Billing Code Pointers

Billing Code pointers are used during the billing process. The "pointer" points to the CPT code and the diagnosis of the patient. Only certain CPT codes are allowed under certain diagnosis codes. When the billing is output the pointers are used to describe why the CPT code in use is being billed, IE: There is a diagnosis that supports it.

To add a billing code point go to homecare-health plans-Billing Code pointers

Select the client from the right top pull down and hit new.

Select the Billing code and which "position" the diagnosis code is entered in the system.

The position can be found under the clients profile here

Once you have indicated the billing code and diag hit the add button.

Now when the billing is output the billing code will point to (include) the actual diagnosis code ie: 92507 -> F89.0

Note: Failure to add this will result in a message indicating that the billing code pointer is missing.
