Creating PDF Mapping

After creating a Document Type and creating a SpokeChoice form for it, you can map that form to a PDF file. Keep in mind you must create form fields on your PDF in order to map it.

A good program for creating and editing PDF files is PDF-Exchange. It is inexpensive and doesn't require a monthly subscription like Adobe.

Below is an example how to map SpokeChoice form fields to PDF form fields.

We'll be using the following sections from a PDF:

This screenshot shows 6 text fields on the PDF file. Note they are given a name that will be used in SpokeChoice to map data into the PDF file.

To map a SpokeChoice Signature field onto a PDF, you must use a PDF Text field in the place where we want a SpokeChoice Signature image to be drawn.

** Do NOT use the PDF Signature field to map SpokeChoice signatures to.

Below is a screenshot of the SpokeChoice form we will map:

The Preference Level 1-3 fields have 3 choices: Good, Better, Best

The Frequency 1-2 fields have 12 choices: January – December

Once you have created your PDF file with named form fields, you must upload it to SpokeChoice. Do this by clicking the Update Template File button.

After uploading the PDF file, you next need to map the SpokeChoice form fields (shown on the left below) to the PDF form fields by selecting the PDF field name from the drop-down adjacent to the SpokeChoice form field.

Note how the SpokeChoice form fields that can have choices have a row to map each value in the field to a PDF form field name. This allows different selections to go to either the same PDF field (as shown above) or to different PDF fields.

Now let's create a document and fill out the form. Note how Preference Level2 and Frequency1 have multiple choices.

The PDF results are shown below. Note the multiple values in the Preference Level2 and Frequency1 fields.
