Parents as Paid Caregivers (PPCG) Timecards

The PPCG model allows legally responsible parents (or guardians) of minor children to be paid to provide direct care to their child when it meets specific criteria. There are specific rules surrounding visits for guardians to clients with a PPCG relationship.

A PPCG relationship is setup in the People Manager>Guardian Assignments tab by checking the Has Guardianship checkbox. Without this box checked, PPCG rules will not be applied.

SpokeChoice enforces 2 rules:

  1. PPCGs may not work more than 16 hours in a day.
  2. Guardians may not work more than 40 hours per PPCG client.

Additionally, warnings appear in the Home Care>Timecards tab when reviewing a guardian’s PPCG-related client visits scheduled between 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM. SpokeChoice does not restrict PPCGs from clocking in or manually recording time during these hours, as such work may be permitted under the Individual Support Plan (ISP).

PPCGs and the UI

Warning: Visits between 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM may be entered, so it is your responsibility to verify all PPCG-related visits during this time. If permission to violate this rule was not issued by AHCCCS, then claims may not be paid.

In order for administrators to be aware of PPCG-related visits, the Home Care>Timecards tab has special features that are visible only when displaying a PPCG-related visit.

A warning message appears above the visit grid to indicate that one or more visits in the grid are PPCG-related. When this warning is displayed, special attention should be given to verifying that visit times fall within the 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM timeframe.

When at least one PPCG-related visit is present, the PPCG column becomes visible, and those visits are marked with a yellow warning icon in that column. Additionally, any invalid in or out times in the visit grid are highlighted in yellow.

These are warnings only, as special authorization in the client’s Individual Support Plan (ISP) may permit exceptions to this rule.
